The Red Kangaroo is a large Australian marsupial. It is an adoptable animal in all three Wildlife Park games.

Description[]

The red kangaroo is the largest of all living marsupials, as well as Australia's largest extant mammal. Adult males can reach up to 1.6m (5.2ft) high, with females being slightly shorter. Despite their name, only the males are red, with the females being a blue-gray in color. Like all kangaroos, it has large muscular hind legs adapted for the family's characteristic hopping movement and a large muscular tail.

The red kangaroo is found across Western and Central Australia in a variety of scrub, desert and grassland habitats. They live in small groups, known as "mobs", and feed primarily on grasses. Females will give birth to a single young, or "joey", and raise it in her pouch. She can also delay a birth until a previous joey has left the pouch.

Wildlife Park[]

The red kangaroo, is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park and is available in the base game. Wire Woven enclosure is recommended to avoid the animal from escaping by jumping over. Their daily needs and enrichments include hay, sprouts, pellets (base game only), mineral (base game only), water, jumping, scratching (e.g. branches), and tussling (e.g. boxing equipment). In terms of environment, they prefer 50% of ground hardness and wasteland plants. They would also like hills in addition, and this can also satisfy their jumping need. An example of preferred ground is earth.

Wildlife Park 2[]

Lat. name: Macropus rufus. The Red Giant Kangaroo is the largest living marsupial. The body is up to 160 cm long in addition to the very muscular tail with a length of up to 120 cm. If a red giant kangaroo rears up on his tail, usually to fight a rival, it can reach a total height of 180 cm. The female is a lot smaller than the male. Red giant kangaroos live in semi-deserts, steppes and bush lands in the inner Australian regions. On rainy days they group into large herds and as individual family groups during the dry season. They feed on grasses and herbs. For this reason they are regarded as pests by the Australian sheep farmers, who claim that the kangaroos eat the grass intended for the sheep. In reality, kangaroos feed off different grass types than sheep, the same only during periods of drought. Although his long and muscular hindquarters do not allow the red giant kangaroo to run very well, it can jump distances of up to 13 m and to heights of up to 3 m, achieving speeds of up to 90 km/h. The hindquarters are also used for boxing matches, as the kangaroo stands on his tail and boxes the opponent in the stomach with his hind legs. As the red giant kangaroo is a marsupial, its young climb into the pouch straight after the birth and latches onto the teat for approx. 190 days. It is then large enough to leave the pouch and stand on its own legs.

The red kangaroo, called red giant kangaroo in-game, is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 2 and was included as part of the Crazy Zoo expansion pack. Curiously, unlike its predecessor, the species does not show sexual dimorphism as the real animal does, with both males and females being red. Its daily need and enrichment necessities include grass, jumping and scratching. They prefer having a minimum herd of 2, with 20 as the maximum number of herd.

Wildlife Park 3[]

The red kangaroo is an adoptable animal in Wildlife Park 3 and was included as part of the Down Under expansion pack. Sexual dimorphism is also not present, albeit there's a gray variant but appears on both genders. Their daily food and enrichment necessities include leaves, grass, water, jumping and scratching. They prefer having a minimum herd of 4, with 10 as the maximum number of herds.

White Kangaroo[]

An albinism variant. Compared to their normal kinds, this variant has a slightly higher price and attractiveness. Their needs remain the same nonetheless.
